Indifference can be bad for your health

Do we need to get vaccinated against BPM indifference and complacency? We readily get vaccinated against disease but with business processes we often take the "she'll be right" attitude. Unfortunately, Process doesn't sound mysterious, like Digital Transformation or futuristic, like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning but it's boring old process that gets things done, so it's worth the effort to make it as efficient and easy to use as possible.

If thinking about process seems about as interesting as watching paint dry, then think of it as something that helps you manage your everyday life. Driving to work in the morning or getting the kids ready for school uses process. Running meetings, shopping for food, playing sports and planning a holiday all use process. They all have inputs and outputs and tasks and decision points that have an optimum sequence and usually pass information or tangible products. They even have customers and suppliers.

When you start to think of process as part of everyday life, then you'll most likely think about how to be more consistent, save time and make less mistakes. Now translate that to your business environment and before you realise it, you'll be doing process improvement. Too easy! So get vaccinated against BPM indifference and help us reach herd immunity.
