Followers of "The Matrix" will immediately understand the significance of the two coloured pills. For everyone else, in that existence the hero, Mr Anderson, is offered the choice of taking one of two pills. The Blue pill offers a life of blissful ignorance and the Red pill offers one of harsh reality, however unpleasant that might be. He takes the Red pill.
Relating that to quality, process management and continuous improvement, the question becomes would you prefer to assume that your organisation is running perfectly (Blue) or would you prefer to know where problems exist so that you can fix them (Red)?
The time for New Year resolutions is nearly upon us and that makes it a perfect time to decide whether 2021 will be Blue or Red.
